When they clash at Rydell's first pep rally, Danny isn't the same Danny from the beach.
They try to be like each other so they can be together.
All of the actors are far past the typical high school age of 14 to 18 years and do not accurately represent high-school aged children: John Travolta (Danny) was 23 years old at the time of shooting; Stockard Channing (Rizzo) was 33 years old; Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) was 29 years old; Both Barry Pearl (Doody) and Jeff Conaway (Kenickie) were 27 years old; Michael Tucci (Sonny) was 31; Kelly Ward (Putzie), at 21 years old, was the youngest of the bunch, while Didi Conn (Frenchy) was 26 years old at the time of filming.
Grease is an infamous musical-play turned film, adapted and produced by Allan Carr, chartering the summertastic rock 'n' roll of the 1950s, centring on the highs and lows of a group of teenagers at high-school, Rydell High.
The film begins with two people having a summer romance, Sandy (Newton-John) an uptight, naïve, nerdy Australian girl and Danny (Travolta), a 'jack-the-lad' 'T' bird.
After the opening credits which are amusing cartoons of the main characters we see the two well known groups of teenagers, the Pink Ladies and the 'T' Birds going back to school after summer vacation.
The rest of the film centres mostly on the relationship of Sandy and Danny, the problems they face, and the ups and downs of their high school chums.
The main characters and the unusual pairing of Sandy and Danny makes for comfortable viewing.
My favourite part of the film is the music, this film has such a brilliant soundtrack.
If you have the chance to watch the film on DVD you get the added bonus of a songbook.
After enjoying a summer romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High.
There Sandy must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies in attempt to win Danny's heart again. It's California 1959 and greaser Danny Zuko and Australian Sandy Olsson are in love.
They spend time at the beach, and when they go back to school, what neither of them knows is that they both now attend Rydell High.
Danny's the leader of the T-Birds, a group of black leather jacket-wearing greasers while Sandy hangs with the Pink Ladies, a group of pink-wearing girls led by Rizzo.
